Fun day in work today. Went to Catholic Junior College (CJC) with the crew to film a symphony concert performed by CJC and Anderson Junior College (AJC). Reached CJC at about 1pm and found out that the auditorium was not ready yet so we were left waiting outside together with the band. It wasn't long before someone came over to open the hall for us and we entered with our big and bulky bags of equipments. There was a total of 4 video cameras, 2 at the center and 1 each at the side of the hall. We then went through the rehearsal where the band tried out their band thingy and wet set-up our equipments, locating a good angle, getting the right lightings by the school and spoting the soloist where we need to get a close up shot of the person.
As any symphony rehearsal would usually be, the conductor, Mr. Alvin Seville, was not very pleased with the band as it is. Mistakes by the band were caught time and again. It wasn't really surprising as it was a band made up of 2 schools. When the performance finally started at 7.20pm, the audience was roaring by the sight of their performing friends. Was quite a spirit lifting experience for the performers i suppose. The band started off with a piece named "Spring March" by Oishi Mika, followed by "3rd symphony", movement 1, 3 and 4, by James Barnes. Very nice performance i would say. After the starting 2 performances, it was time for a 20minutes break. After which came "With Heart and Voice" (David R. Gillingham), "Stereophonic Stereotypes*", "Persuation" (Sammy Nestico), "Japanese Graffiti XIII", (Arr. by Takashi Hoside) and "Theme from Battle without Honour and Humanity" (Music by Toshiaki, Arr. by Masamicz Amano).
*Stereophonic Stereotypes was performed by the CJC band members on the typical students that is within a class. Music was create by mixing and synchronizing the possible noises made in the class. Funny and nice performance.
Lastly they ended the show with a Christmas musical at about 10.30pm.
After the whole thing ended, we packed up and went back to keep our equipments and went to Serangoon to have our supper. Ate some famous Nasi Lemak which im not very sure about and i reached home at about 11.40pm. Tired when i reach home, bathed, blogged and now, OFF TO BED!
